Away-Day fan Code of conduct
The Hawkey Flock loves away-game traveling and has spent several years forming relationships with opposing teams and organizations. As a result, we are often honored to receive discounts, unique opportunities, and special privileges at various arenas. This reputation is something we hold sacred and hope to share more broadly with The Winterhawks fan-base. Please read and agree to the following away-day travel code of conduct if you are planning on attending an away game. Any violation of this code of conduct may result in a ban from future travel/ticketing opportunities in addition to any disciplinary actions taken by individual teams or WHL league officials.You are a guest and a representative of The Hawkey Flock, The Winterhawks, The City of Portland, and The United States. Please take this responsibility seriously.
Violence, verbal abuse, intimidation, destructive behavior, or any other action meant to harm, demean, or harass others will not be tolerated.
You are expected to respect the arena you are visiting. Please do not leave excessive litter, cause damage, disrespect staff members, or otherwise deface or destroy the property.
You are expected to obey all the rules and policies of each specific venue. Failure to do so may result in removal from the venue and future travel bans.
Prohibited items defined by the venue are not allowed or encouraged. You will be provided this information prior to each event and will be expected to adhere to these policies.
If confronted by opposing fans, you are expected to deescalate and report inappropriate behavior to the venue staff. Good natured banter is acceptable; violence, profanity, or abusive behavior is not. Please remember that the team on the ice will not be the same in four years, but the fans in the stands will be. Do not ruin future opportunities for others.
Away travel often presents opportunities to interact with the team in off-ice capacities (hotel lobbies, restaurants, etc). We ask that you remember that they are athletes trying to focus on their performance and expect that you do not engage with them unless they engage with you. This includes asking for photographs or autographs.
We hold each other accountable. If you see any violations of this code of conduct from your traveling companions, please intervene directly and promptly. Report egregious violations or safety concerns to arena staff AND send us an email with the individuals name and brief summary of behavior so we can determine if future actions are necessary. We are not trying to elicit complaints, but we will need to address unacceptable behavior.
