🎓 ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: CAP’S FIRST NCAA GOAL AT DU! Once a Hawk, always a Hawk. Last season's team captain, Ryan Miller, reached a major collegiate milestone this past weekend skating for the University of Denver (DU) Pioneers! Miller sealed a Denver victory by scoring his first career NCAA goal into the empty net. His leadership, hockey IQ, and trademark work ethic continue to make Portland proud on the national collegiate stage!

🏔️ ALUMNI LEADERSHIP: KYLE CHYZOWSKI NAMED ALTERNATE CAPTAIN AT DU! Portland’s pedigree is on full display in the Mile High City! Number 40 of the Top 50 Winterhawks of all time and former Winterhawks captain Kyle Chyzowski has officially been named an Alternate Captain for the University of Denver Pioneers for the 2026–2027 season. After spending five seasons in Portland establishing himself as the heart and soul of our franchise, Chyzowski carried that same energy to Denver—hoisting the 2026 NCAA National Championship trophy and earning Frozen Four All-Tournament honors. Now in his sophomore year, wearing the “A” on his sweater proves what Hawks fans have known all along: Kyle’s high-energy grit and locker-room character are undeniable. With both Chyzowski and Ryan Miller rolling with the Pioneers, DU sure has the right idea! 📰 READ: DU HOCKEY NAMES 2026-27 LEADERSHIP GROUP

🌾 TRAITOR ALERT? COLE SLOBODIAN’S OT HEROICS IN BRANDON! Look who decided to save his clutch overtime magic for the other guys! Recently traded over to his hometown team, the Brandon Wheat Kings, defenseman Cole Slobodian wasted absolutely zero time playing the sudden-death hero. The Wheat Kings were in Kelowna, playing against the Rockets, and the game headed into overtime tied 2-2. Slobodian jumped right into the high slot, took a tape-to-tape dish, and buried the Overtime Winner for his very first goal in black and gold. Once a Hawk, ALWAYS a Hawk... but scoring clutch game-winners for a different WHL team? We see you, Cole! Just make sure you leave those overtime daggers out of it when we head to Brandon in November! 📺 WATCH: COLE SLOBODIAN'S OVERTIME WINNER
